Quick Start Guide
-
Before putting on your brace, take a moment to ensure everything is prepared for a proper and comfortable fit.
• Check the brace size: Confirm the brace matches the size recommended by your provider. A brace that is too large or too small will not provide the intended support.
• Wear a thin clothing layer: For comfort and skin protection, it is recommended to wear a thin shirt or moisture-wicking layer under the brace. Avoid thick clothing that may affect the brace fit.
• Inspect the brace: Look over the brace to ensure all straps, pads, and closures are intact and not twisted or damaged.
• Stand or sit in a neutral posture: When putting on the brace, keep your back in a natural position. Avoid bending or twisting during fitting.
• Follow your physician’s instructions: Always follow the specific wearing schedule and guidance provided by your healthcare provider.
-
Follow these steps to position and secure the brace properly.
Position the brace
Place the brace around your torso so the main support structure aligns with the center of your spine.Align the support panel
Ensure the rigid support or stabilization panel is centered along the spine for proper support.Wrap the brace around your body
Bring the left and right panels around your torso evenly.Secure the primary closure
Fasten the front closure or main strap system so the brace stays in position.Tighten secondary straps
Adjust any additional straps gradually, pulling evenly from both sides to provide balanced support.Check alignment
Confirm that the brace sits comfortably and remains centered along your back.
-
The brace should feel secure and supportive without causing discomfort or restricting breathing.
Signs of proper fit:
✔ The brace feels snug but not overly tight
✔ You can breathe comfortably
✔ The brace does not shift when standing or walking
✔ Support is felt around the lower back and coreSigns the brace may be too tight:
• Difficulty breathing
• Sharp pressure points
• Numbness or tingling
• Skin irritationIf you experience discomfort, slightly loosen the straps and readjust the brace.
Always follow your provider’s recommended wearing schedule.
-
Avoid these common fitting issues to ensure the brace works properly.
Twisted straps
Straps should lie flat against the brace and your body. Twisted straps reduce effectiveness and can cause discomfort.Brace positioned too high
If the brace rides too high, it may not properly support the intended spinal area.Brace positioned too low
If the brace sits too low on the hips, it will not stabilize the spine effectively.Uneven tightening
Pull straps evenly from both sides to maintain balanced compression.Wearing over thick clothing
Bulky layers may prevent proper brace positioning and reduce support.Taking a moment to properly position the brace will greatly improve comfort and effectiveness.
